Fluoride is an important component of dental toothpaste. It strengthens the enamel, reverses early decay and prevents against acid damage. It is recommended to use a fluoride containing toothpaste daily at the following concentrations:

  • 1000ppm fluoride for children under 6 years of age. Brushing should be supervised since young kids do not know how to spit the extra toothpaste. Also parents and caregivers must ensure that the kids are brushing their teeth properly especially the ones at the back of the mouth.

  • 1450ppm fluoride for children 6 years and older and also adults.

Oral health advise:

  • Brush teeth twice daily for two minutes

  • Avoid rinsing with water after brushing to keep fluoride on teeth

  • Limit the intake of sugary food and drink

  • Regular check ups at the dentist will help identify any problems at an early stage
